Today is a day I’ll never forget…My wife just released her new album! - @iamwillaford Watching her bring this vision to life has been one of the most humbling and inspiring experiences. I’ve had a front-row seat to everything that never makes the highlight reel. The late nights. The rewrites. The moments of doubt followed by breakthroughs. The quiet determination to keep going even when the process was hard. What she poured into every single song wasn’t just talent, it was all of her being! And through it all, I was reminded of three truths I never want to forget: 1. There is no substitute for hard work. Dreams don’t build themselves. Behind every great piece of art is an unseen mountain of sacrifice, discipline, and commitment. She showed up for this again and again. When no one was watching. That kind of work ethic doesn’t just create music. It builds character. 2. Authenticity is your greatest superpower. We were not created to be copies of one another. We were created to be ourselves. Her voice, her story, her perspective, is woven into every lyric on this album. There is an undeniable power in leaning fully into who you are and refusing to apologize for it. The world doesn’t need another version of someone else. It needs you. 3. Words carry extraordinary weight. When you listen to these songs, you’ll hear more than music. You’ll hear history, emotion, lived experience, and hard-won wisdom. As the Bible reminds us, the tongue is a double-edged sword…choose your words wisely. Speak life. Speak truth. Speak with intention. And finally, none of us get anywhere alone. I loved sitting down w/ former @nfl players @peanuttillman Tillman and @harp_41 on the @nflplayerspodcast Pduring Super Bowl week in SF. Something that’s stuck with me is our conversation about standards, which I learned early on, in my rookie season, walking into a Super Bowl locker room led by guys like @officialdbrooks55 @qbkilla @john.lynch.official and @ronde_barber . Our leaders made it clear that the standard they expected was the standard we had to deliver. If you didn’t buy in, you were quickly washed out. It’s that pursuit of excellence that drove me in football, and it’s the same mindset that drives us to set a THE standard at @nextlegacypartners . I’m so proud that our community of LPs not only includes institutional investors, philanthropist, foundations and over 170+ athletes and 30+ team owners. Yeah I did a double take too? 1 night 2 memorable events. It started at NFL Honors, where my wife walked the red carpet and talked about her new album coming out. She looked stunning and it was fun Watching her work the carpet. We enjoyed awards show…the stories of excellence and achievement never disappoint. From there, we hosted our VIP @nextlegacypartners and @empire kickoff party ahead of the annual Culinary Super Bowl Soiree. A dynamic evening that brought together elite athletes, Hall of Famers, top founders, operators, and many of the GPs in our ecosystem. (Thx @cdelisle The night delivered on every level: @chefmichaelmina brought his culinary mastery, creating a world-class dining experience that reminded everyone why he’s at the top of his craft. @charleswoodson poured his whiskey (a must buy) and showed off his skills as sushi chef. @woodsonwhiskey @ghazi , the founder/CEO of @empire came through and partnered with us to bring folks from their community as well. Saturday morning at the NFL @super_bowl_breakfast was unforgettable. 🏈 A packed house with over 1500 people were fired up. They were Moved by the inspiring and powerful messages that were shared throughout the morning. I had the honor of hosting a fantastic panel to discuss AI, faith and leadership. But the highlight of the morning was @christianmccaffrey recieving the Bart Starr Award and sharing his heart on leadership, teamwork, faith, and why gratitude drives him through it all. ✝️ The audience also heard from several other legends John Lynch, Condoleezza Rice, Jed York, Brent Jones, Bryant Young and a few others. All of them spoke on excellence, rising to the occasion, and how faith was their foundation in good times and bad. But the best part? Having my son there with me. Next Legacy dropped in on @unrivaledbasketball this week for a double-header in their incredible Miami facility! Emerging sports leagues are hot, but Unrivaled is truly a cut above.
