AFTERNOON CLASS, 2:30pm-6pm:
HOUSE OF CHEKHOV
Three sessions of scenes expanding your craft, leading up to a class show of a devised piece based on property, family, love, and sexuality in Anton Chekhov. This will be staged in an immersive style in a brownstone. The first two scenes will cover a range of writers that reflect on Chekhov’s values, such as Strindberg, Ibsen, Odets, or modern writers like Annie Baker, Anna Zeigler, or Sarah Ruhl. We will use Ross Shenker’s translations of Chekhov plays.
EVENING CLASS, 6:30-10pm:
MOON LAKE CASINO (sold out)
Moon Lake Casino is a fictional location featured in many of Tennessee Williams’ plays. We will build toward a class company show featuring these scenes, and in the time leading up to it will be exploring your temperament with writers evocative of Wlliams such as Lucy Thurber, Beth Henley, Sam Shepard, and Lanford Wilson.
For both classes,
@rosscasts is an NYC casting director and certified Michael Chekhov technique teacher, and will be teaching the technique for two class sessions in the course.
