They did not indict the Klan this week. They indicted the people who sued the Klan into bankruptcy.
I am an attorney, and I need you to understand what this means.
On Tuesday, the Department of Justice indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center the civil rights organization that has spent over 50 years dismantling white supremacist organizations through the courts. Eleven counts: wire fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy. The allegation? That the SPLC ran a paid informant program inside the Klan, the Aryan Nations, and the National Socialist Movement the same kind of informant program the FBI has run for a century. When the federal government does it, we call it law enforcement. When a civil rights organization does it, the DOJ calls it “manufacturing extremism.”
Here is what the coverage is not telling you:
In 2023, the Heritage Foundation the architects of Project 2025 published a piece calling the SPLC a “left-wing smear factory” and openly asked what the “goal” was for dealing with them. That same year, they released the 900-page blueprint for this administration. Two years later, the indictment lands.
This is not a coincidence. It is a roadmap being executed in real time.
The Klan is not indicted today. The Aryan Nations is not indicted today. The men who marched in Charlottesville are not indicted today. The organization that sued them into the ground that one is indicted today.
