Today’s National Day of Action in Selma and Montgomery renews the fight for voting rights protection for all Americans. In the aftermath of Louisiana v. Callais, millions of Black Americans face the same threat that MLK and John Lewis marched in protest of. The same threat that so many died for. The Supreme Court has gutted those voting rights, triggering racial gerrymandering and the voiding of thousands of legally cast votes across the country. We are again at a historical inflection point, and must ask ourselves - do we truly believe in liberty and justice for all?
“God’s got this” faith right now means a shield for the powerful and a sword for the downtrodden. This spiritual bypassing hijacks the Christian faith to defend personal comfort.
