📹 There have been plenty of fight nights where Im perched on a rather small metal stand, just big enough to stand comfortably on, with one hand holding a camera and the other hand gripping the top of the cage (for dear life when the heavyweights are banging around the octagon) 😅
🎬This last one, I was directing and switching the fight, so telling the cam ops what shots and angles to get for the walk out and during the fight.
I still love shooting, but it’s always fun working on other skills in the video production world.

I don’t get into AE much, but luckily i know my way around enough to help get these out before fight night.
Having these done early means more help setting up cameras & running cables so @natemoffett.reel can make sure we’re ready to go live on time in the venue and online.

Does it matter if you have a nice background for Zooms or business calls? Maybe not.
But if your first impression matters…why not make it your best one?
Ive come to realize that when i can finally get the kids to sleep, going out back and just sitting and enjoying the last light, has been a great way to relax and let everything go and not carry any bs to bed.
Like my morning coffee, this is definitely making it into the daily routine.
The view through the breeze blocks looking down into the valley.
I used to do it all-
Producer, director, shooter, editor, even bookkeeping 🤮
It always felt faster to just “do it myself”
Like asking for help would slow me down.
But honestly,
Realizing I didnt have to do everything…
Was the biggest stress relief I’ve ever felt.
Delegating gave me back time to think.
Room to breathe.
And I actually started enjoying work again.
Turns out, control isnt doing it all.
It’s knowing what to carry-
And whats just weighting you down.

These BTS look videos were some of the first things that I shot that wasn’t skating.
The very first one was kind of an accident…
I was asked to help drive the rv around downtown LA since I had some experience behind the wheel.
I brought the my trusty vx1000 with me to kill time in between locations and I just started filming some bts of the catalog shoot.
Now I don’t know exactly what happened to the footage of the first one(maybe its in my old shoe box of mini DV tapes that I need to archive one day) and I don’t recall if theres an edit for it.
But, after that one, we started shooting a BTS look video for every season moving forward.
