When I came to Austin, I didn’t really know anyone. When I moved here to pursue my music career full-time, I remember many people telling me that there wasn’t a space for pop and R&B, especially as a Black solo artist. Not only did we find community, grace huge stages, get nominated for awards but we also discovered that people just want to hear good music they can relate to. Can’t wait to do it all over again soon. 🎮

when i came to austin to debut, everybody had the same warning, ‘there’s no scene for a black solo r&b/pop act out here’. no band, no built-in crowd, no pathway. and look, i’ve said publicly that black artists in this city need more visibility and that’s still true. but what i also found? people who look like me who showed up and showed love. there’s people who don’t, who still recognize good music. the scene exists. it just needs US to believe it does and MAKE it happen. ☁️🎮
can’t wait for us to take it to a new level (ha) this year
