I have arrived back in New Zealand after 17 days in Brazil to present my body of work For time is the witness of humanity @bienalsaopaulo I would like to first thank @bonaventurendikung for including me in this amazing Bienal. Forever grateful and honoured. Being in this Bienal is something I will forever remember and cherish. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of the amazing vision of exploring humanity as a practice amongst amazing artists , visionaries, thinkers, innovators and dreamers. Thank you 🙏🏿 I would like to also thank @anna_roberta_goetz and @pitol.andre for their amazing support in the process of bringing forth my body of work. Ruth Ige features in the traveling program of the 36th São Paulo Biennial, presenting works from 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺. Opening tonight in Curitiba at Museu Oscar Niemeyer, the itinerant selection is curated by Anna Roberta Goetz, co-curator of the 36th Biennial, along with adjunct co-curator André Pitol and exhibition designer Tiago Guimarães. ‘Held programmatically since 2011, these traveling exhibitions have become a fundamental extension of the São Paulo Biennial, allowing works and debates presented at the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion to be reconfigured in dialogue with diverse local contexts, activating new interpretations and relationships with audiences outside the main exhibition area.’ - @ruth_ige_art @anna_roberta_goetz @museuoscarniemeyer @bienalsaopaulo

Ruth Ige participates in the 36th Bienal de São Paulo titled 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘙𝘰𝘢𝘥𝘴 — 𝘖𝘧 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘈𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦, led by chief curator Prof. Dr. Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung together with his conceptual team of co-curators Alya Sebti, Anna Roberta Goetz and Thiago de Paula Souza, as well as co-curator at large Keyna Eleison and strategy and communication advisor Henriette Gallus. The Bienal is open and available for viewing until January 11. ‘The central proposal of this Bienal is to rethink humanity as a verb, a living practice, in a world that requires reimagining relationships, asymmetries and listening as the basis for coexistence, based on three curatorial fragments/axes. The metaphor of the estuary – a place where different water currents meet and create a space for coexistence – guides the curatorial project, inspired by Brazilian philosophies, landscapes and mythologies.
