In a temporary city of more than 70,000 people and 15 square kilometres, of course you can find “Tourist”, people that goes there just to take and not to make, people that expects someone else takes responsability for their trash, for what they are gonna eat or drink, for what they leave behid; of course you might meet grumpy neighbors, as in every place everything can happen, for what you’ve heard, even crime…
Yeah, but most of the times, people is kind, neighbors help each other, your friends visit you even if they need to pedal their bikes all over the desert; there is always someone that ask you if you have eaten yet, if you need a drink or a spot to have a rest. There are artist (and whole camps) that spend 3 weeks on the most hostile environtment to make possible you can climb, explore, dance or just take a picture with their art.
Of course some people just go there for the party ... But be prepared, shows are not gonna happen as they said on the “flyer” (500 events are programmed at the same time) and we don’t know if the DJ you want to follow is stucked in the line, there is a dust storm or it rains and nobody can move from where they are. It can gets as uncomfortable you’ve ever been, what makes the magic is where you actually are and how you take that struggle times. You are in charge for make that moment the most incredible one, and the best of all, is always the PEOPLE that surrounds you.

Maraika es sin duda uno de los lugares más bellos del mundo y nos sentimos muy afortunados por ser parte de su historia desde el inicio, cuando estaban poniendo las primeras piedras de lo que ahora es el beach club, de la mano de nuestro querido Mike y aquella primer tribu pata salada que se reunía a pasarla de lo lindo, bajo esa energía que solo se puede sentir ahí. 🌺
Después de 10 años de incontables experiencias increíbles, despertar con los sonidos del mar y de la selva, de comer delicioso, ver las estrellas, la bioluminiscencia, de encontrarte con amigos, pasar los días flotando en su mar o solo poner los pies en la arena, de terminar con dolor de panza de las risas, de bailar, de olvidarte del teléfono, de ver como los pequeños lo gozan y de no querer salir de ahí nunca, seguimos escogiendo su magia... ✨

Since the first time we experienced Burning Man in 2018, our gift to black rock citizens has been what we enjoy the most: MUSIC and very special AGAVE DISTILLATES.
As many of you may know, our business is in the restaurant-bar industry. Together we lead a place on the Nayarit coast of Mexico called “La Negra” which has fortunately been successful for 10 years now. We are also parents, and active members of the local artist community, passionate about music, design and events.
As RUSH AFFAIR, we may not have a famous name because we’re not in music for living, but for love. However, we share every DJ SET professionally, always with respect for the venue that hosts us, and, above all, with an alternative proposal. We feel empowered with the creative freedom of not being attached to “work” and with a commitment to ensuring that, if opportunities to be heard are few, they will always be UNIQUE.
Speaking about MEZCAL, has’t been a short journey eather. We’ve tried to learn as much as possible since our first business project by the beach over 13 years ago. We’ve had the fortune to try upon now, thousands of agave distillates, to know dozens of producers and suppliers, and having formal training, obtaining the “Master Mezcalier” degree from the “Mezcal Regulatory Councyl”. At the same time we’ve shared the knowledge training many generations of bartenders and servers that have worked with us.
This year we are upgrading the “sharing mezcal casual encounters” to a more “sharing knowledge and culture experience”, not only focused in the tasting, but going deeper in honouring the Mezcal tradition, and of course, we are aiming that the people we share it with, obtain the tools to differentiate a good agave spirit vs. marketing. Making it clear that we don’t represent any particular brand, and of course we don’t have any sales objective.
As the free souls we are, we are not staying in any particular camp, but programming some visits to Camp friends to share this love, music and mezcal. DM us to catch up!!
