A HIGHLIGHT this term was having the brilliant Rupert Charmak @rupcharm come and work with our actors and directors on exploring conflict that results in physical violence in a dramatic scene.
Our theme this term was ‘Trust & Betrayal’ and our artistic director Heather instructed our writers to explore one exercise where betrayal results in conflict and violence/a physical fight.
Rupert then brought his expertise to work through these scenes in our actors and directors workshops. How to approach these scenes with sensitivity, authenticity and safety. Pushing how far we can take these moments and the performances.
RUPERT CHARMAK – DIRECTOR – WRITER – FIGHT DIRECTOR - PRODUCER
Rupert is a multi-disciplinary artist and filmmaker whose worked with companies like ITV, The Shakspeare’s Globe, and the Park Theatre. Recently Rupert was Fight Director and co-director of the award-winning play Going For Gold at the Park Theatre and world tour of which he was nominated for an Offie award for best choreography/movement. He is one of the founders of SuckerPunch Productions winner of the 2025 LiveWire Innovation & Excellence Awards, developing a slate of TV, film and radio projects, currently with the BBC and other streaming platforms.
