When we started the creative groundwork for the show, it was really a big love letter to Singapore. I’m so happy that my friends in HK can now also enjoy the xinyao classics by Dr Liang Wern Fook that we reimagined as modern musical-theatre showstoppers. Journey to the West characters stumble into Singaporean warmth, humour, and love in this story, and I hope you all feel it too.

Crazy to see my face with these legends! The music of these grandmasters have been such a part of my life. A big thank you to the @singaporesymphony for commissioning a new cross-cultural chamber work, Gathered by the Winds 《四风吟》, where I explored how the winds carry Chinese folk songs of different regions and bring them together, forming a blend as beautiful and vibrant as the coming together of the SSO and @dingyimusic . Thank you to maestro @wongdeli of DY and Zheng Yi of the SSO for the trust, and to @kongxianlong for the hard work leading the ensemble! 🎻 Scored for flute, string quintet, dizi, sheng, yangqin, pipa, guzheng, and Chinese and western percussion
