Punks Trail Clwb Turned Four! 🤘🥳🤘
We marked the occasion exactly the way we know best; with mud on our shoes, laughter in the air, and a community that just keeps growing.
We kicked things off as one big crew, gathering for a group photo in front of the gates of Cefn Onn (the birth place of trails) before splitting into the 5km and 10km teams. It was one of those times where the mix of people felt extra special: familiar faces who’ve been with us since the early days, newer runners discovering the trails, friends returning after time away, and even those carrying future runners along for the ride. We felt the absence of those who couldn’t make it — always part of the family, even when life pulls them elsewhere.
Lily and Sandy led two brilliant routes that wound through garlic‑scented woodland, climbed up to sweeping views of the city, and delivered that perfect blend of challenge and joy that makes a Punks Trail Clwb run what it is.
And of course, no birthday run is complete without a proper finish. We ended at the pub, where we took over the beer garden with the usual chaos: laughter, catching up, swapping stories, and raising a glass. The highlight? A full‑volume, slightly chaotic, absolutely heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” for Hannah JJ.
Four years in - but wait until you see what's planned for birthday number five 😉

TRAILZ ROUNDUP
TUESDAY: An adventure to remember on Tuesday. There's only a handful of evenings a year that Tuesday trails and the tide times line up for a safe crossing (and return) to Sully Island, and even fewer with a gorgeous sunset to match. A bashy group of punks rock hopped across to explore the island, followed by a boomerang route along the coast to Lavernock Point. Dusk fell as we paced back in the summer air and sank a well earned drink at the pub ⚓
WEDNESDAY: A proper summer trail evening at last.
Dry woods, dusty fields and flowing trails. Even the late downpour couldn’t change that. Lucy’s third run with us and getting stronger every week. September is going to be awesome, and more proof that trail running is brilliant training for the roads. Good to have Ben back from the big smoke too.
We crossed the river together via the fallen tree, trusting nature to look after us, before the route descended into chaos — rerouting around one field of cows only to get trapped by another herd!
A slightly sketchy barbed wire scramble, some dense woodland exploring, 12k instead of 10k, headtorches for the final 15 minutes, and somehow still back before full darkness.
Fun not fast. 🤘

Special shoutout to Punk legend @bryanwadley for showing true Punk spirit at Radyr, helping an injured runner back to the start and then heading back out to finish his own race!

TRAILZ: TUESDAY SOCIAL / WEDNESDAY SESSION
TUESDAY
Holly is back at the helm this Tuesday and has planned a lovely coastal run for us! There is even talk of heading out to Sully Island! So bring your waders and trunks, this is going to be an adventure.
This will all be rounded off with a little visit to the Captain’s Wife – make of that what you will…
WEDNESDAY
Its back to the ‘Vale’ once more, funny how that happens isn’t it? This time we are tackling Case Hill and Dinas woods to get our fill of the forestry and the surrounding countryside.
Lets hope for a glorious sunset and some lush flowy trails, what more can you ask for?!
See you on the trails! 🖤
**Please keep in mind that the trails might be rocky and rooty in some sections, so take care and go at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. There’s absolutely no pressure to go fast—everyone is here to enjoy the run together.

GO WELL, PUNKS! (NO SUNDAY CLWB)
This weekend, there are a lot of Punks lacing up and getting out there on some very cool race courses. If you're getting after Sat or Sun this weekend (or both 👀), then remember your reasons for running and hold on to that out there. When it gets tough, hold that 'why' in the front of your mind, repeat it in your head, say it out loud or even scream it into the air. Whatever race or run you're doing, dig in, smile, back yourself, enjoy the ride and of course...don't be shite. 🤘
TRAILZ ROUNDUP
Tuesday: There was no messing about on Tuesday as Mair led the gang out of Taffs Well and straight up Craig yr Allt. The climb was worth it though as we managed to catch the sunset at the top! As one punk put it, ‘it’s better than being stuck in the house’.
After sampling the fine spring evening, we took a lush route through the wild woods below, before making our return!
Wednesday: Rose took the session lead at Cefn Onn and summed up the night perfectly with her recap...
"Ups. Downs. Pint."
Love these photos because they sum up the gift of knowing that the fun is more important than the run.
Also my calve muscles look good in the second one 😂
TRAILZ: TUESDAY SOCIAL / WEDNESDAY SESSION
TUESDAY
Mair is in control of Tuesday this week. She’s planning on a trip to see Craig. There is going to be some lush train action going down, and hopefully a beautiful evening occurring too!
WEDNESDAY
Rose is back at the helm for some classic RP trails starting at Cefn Onn. She’s keeping it a secret as to where we are going; but we know whatever it is, it’s going to be lots of fun! Will we catch a sunset at the top?
See you on the trails! 🖤
**Please keep in mind that the trails might be rocky and rooty in some sections, so take care and go at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. There’s absolutely no pressure to go fast—everyone is here to enjoy the run together.
