BC cam lobe repair job from start to finish. New Cummins cam core costs $1200, this repair service runs $50 per lobe to hardface + $150 to grind. Keep reading for answers to the most common questions and before you comment, know that âhardface overlay camsâ have been going on for decades, from Isky Cams in the 1950âs to the NASCAR Winston Cup flat tappet era to present day. It works if you have the right personnel and BC has over 250 years of âcombinedâ camshaft experience with our proximity and familiarity with Crower Cams.
⢠Why repair it? Because the customer chose to do so.
⢠Why not buy a new cam? Repair may be less expensive, no new aftermarket semi core available or discontinued.
⢠Is it reheat treated? No, the welding rod is matched to the lobe hardness from different grades of wire.
⢠What type of filler rod? Stellite, Colmonoy or Hardfacing.
⢠Does the core bend? Itâs possible, but all cams are checked for runout before leaving the facility.
⢠Does it last? We stand behind our work but cannot control tappet surface, oiling, spring pressure, etcâŚ
⢠Is it cheaper than buying a new core? Depends on the job, also if the core is still in production. Some are antiques or irreplaceable, some arenât worth saving and we pass.
⢠Is the repaired lobe or journal ground to spec? Yes it is or the service is useless. Lobes are copied to a cam master.

Got fancy with @haltech ecu running full control on this 2022 polaris rzr! man she runs so goor! full flex fuel with 4 boost levels based on flex content with @pureturbos turbo! tpr motor with @runbc internals! throw 91 or e85 and your tune changes on the fly! custom gear based throttle control as this thing was too sensitive in reverse and low gear. oil pressure safety, boost pressure safey, fuel pressure and all the parameters set! 236whp isnt bad out of 2 cylinders either! love this haltech ecu with haltech dash and can keypad! need custom tuning? lets go!
