I visited this 1300-1500 year old ancient kitayama cedar tree when I stayed on a lovely tea farm in Wazuka, Kyoto.
The locals that hosted me told me old stories of the tree that had been passed along by the ancestors of the area. The tree is worshipped daily with a Shinto shrine and a festival is held in its honour every year. It's presence was ethereal. I wanted to capture its age and spirit ⛩️
