Making Plates for @mate_the_label
When MATE showed me their April Capsule, crafted in Organic materials, this menu unfolded beginning with the obvious color wave chili oil for the Ginger Scallion chili oil, then the Boule De Lille peel feels like linen and the inside reflects a deep sienna, then into Golden Beet Salad from the gingham, Blue Spirulina and Pomegranate Molasses mirroring the chestnut color wave, a monochrome white moment from the Turnip and Whipped Honey Dijon, Whipped Ricotta and Balsamic Glaze for the retro black and white set.

In Good Company was a dinner I co-hosted with @lemon___inc this week. I was thinking about what made working on this cookbook so special and it came down to community. I wanted to celebrate what makes NY a city that holds your heart. For me it is the people, their uniqueness, their desire for 48 hours in a day, shaping, molding, making, things and experiences we marvel at, that makes it our beloved apple, and is reflected in the very fabric of the Lemon cookbook. Supper was at Serbian @kafananyc an immigrant owned family run business that feels like home. Their food is love. You can taste it. There’s love in every brick on each wall. Every bite and every sound. Their musical duo Wolf & Serge that has played together every Friday for the last 15 years played for us Serbian folk songs and we forgot it was a Tuesday night in Manhattan. NY does that. You’re in so many places at once but also, uniquely in NY. These magic evenings NY gives you that perhaps could not happen elsewhere in the same way. Industry friends sat at a table completely covered by the new wallpaper, with food and drinks prepared by @kronnerc of @mayday_la_ny and florals by @foxfodderfarm .
The new collection reflects @eyeswoon and @rachel__cope ’s shared devotion to texture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere, inviting a sense of timeless reverence into any space.
