Last week, something kind of magical happened in a coffee shop.
GROUNDS began 💥☕️
We brought our first pop-up to @pilllarforum in NE Minneapolis, and community showed. up. 👏
We drank coffee. We had conversations. We moved in every corner of the space. We jumped out of our chairs. We wiggled under tables.
We danced in a coffee shop.
And we danced with you.

This show we’ve got coming up with @rjdtco , Grounds, combines two of my long-time loves: dance, and coffee ☕️ 🤍
Coffee has always been more than a hit of caffeine for me. It’s a slow morning ritual with my mom before school, it’s a way of tasting and connecting to other cultures and countries, it’s a companion to sitting and observing the world around you, it’s a witness to friends leaning in over a table and telling secrets.
I’m grateful for this quick, playful and intensive process, collaborating with the incredible minds & movers @bzychln@laurasukowatey@karimi__sara__ & @shannonkaryy , and for the cafes that are saying yes to bringing something a little unusual into their spaces. Also so much gratitude for the @mplsgov cultural arts districts fund for funding this project.
