Furgus was born from a simple idea to create a space that shifts with the rhythm of the day. Taking Jasper’s vision and pushing it beyond what he imagined, we moved him out of the comfort of a slab serif. We hand drew, sketched, cut, and stamped this brand into existence. Working closely with the chef himself, we created an identity that carries a handmade feel, embodies natural form, and disrupts the safe, predictable broadway of design. We used B2 Hana, a monospaced serif with accents of disruption, and combined it with a custom brand typeface. Every letter was hand drawn, then developed into a fully functioning type system. This is food that is ingredient led and seasonal, paired with wine that carries you into evenings of vinyl and live music. And it’s bloody gorgeous. Brand Design · Spatial Design · Type Design Ingredient led. Hand built.

Rub does parfum🍒 Working alongside Eva van Lieshout & the A team @fitzroyamsterdam we worked with the founder to develop an identity and packaging design for a luxury perfume brand. This product did not exist before Fitzroy worked with them. We had to develop a brand that would push Christian Alexander straight up to luxury without a slow increase.  Unapologetic, love what you’ve got, careless and free were words that were being used. Together we drew all the scribbles and pasted these onto bottles. Showing that essence of carefree freedom! The hand drawn A of Christian became the icon of the brand; capturing all these words in 1 letter form. @its.christian.alexander

Rub, Rory & Ollie do Plant not plastic (WIP) Working alongside Oliver Dell and Rory Stiff we developed a campaign identity for The National Cotton Alliance of American to push the wear of cotton over microplastic. Research showing how destructive unnatural fibres are for your body, lungs and brain.  After many refinements of the shape of a cotton boll we developed a lock up to sit alongside a magnification technique to highlight the microplastics within imagery. Using blob tracking we can highlight these plastics in imagery and film.  The type breaks down, that being only the negative language used. The breakaways are then used as a detection system.  @oliver_dell_ @rorystiff

Rub does the phenomenology of vinyl👆🏼 A phenological oral historical examination of vinyl records. This dissertation publication is a greyboard & book cloth wrapped box with a metal bridge to hold the writings. Nostalgia sparked the conversations I had with many people so a separate section is in this box for the memories. Anyone I spoke to, you will be here! A 7 piece box with ‘my words’ on the left, and words of others on the right. Debossed title on the edge of the box/encasing. Risograph printed sleeves to push the idea of touch leaving a concretisation of history and all text pushed to the edges to show the parallels between how people handle vinyl. Really couldn’t have done this without @soulbrotherrecords & @fefoilleret 🪡🤍

Rub does LETTERHEADS🟨🟡 How can I teach my practice through a physical form? Custom typeface & toolkit to teach kids type design through a physical medium. Working with students at Forest School I made a puzzle like box to promote hands on learning. A lot of developmental research & experimentation around a grid like structure to form this typeface. Dad built my box for me, I laser cut and painted each block to build the trays and puzzles. DIY type spec to be filled in by kids, varying levels for each age between 10-15. Typeface is based on 4 different screw heads. There’s more to do in this world than use a laptop!!
