There is no role more invisible, more exhausting, or more extraordinary than motherhood. And yet, some of the most powerful people in the world are simply called “Mum”.
Sir David Attenborough turns 100 today. He has spent a lifetime teaching us how to look at the world more carefully. He reminded us that nature is not separate from humanity but the very system that sustains us. His work transformed environmental consciousness not through fear or ideology, but through wonder and joy. He made us care.
What makes Attenborough extraordinary is not only the depth of his knowledge, but his humility. Even after documenting the planet for over half a century, he still speaks with awe. In an era defined by noise and ego he remains measured, curious and deeply human.
His legacy is not simply a body of films, it is a shift in collective consciousness. Entire generations (me included) learned to value ecosystems, species (even insects) and the fragile interconnectedness of life. He invited us to see beauty where we may otherwise have overlooked it.
Few cultural figures have contributed so meaningfully to humanity’s relationship with the Earth. Fewer still have done so with such grace, clarity and integrity.
Happy Birthday Sir.
Check out my friends @metierpress . They’re pushing books to a new and beautiful level. They are not simply publishing books but creating objects of desire. Every element is considered. Each edition is absolutely unique.
Each limited-edition, handcrafted volume is letter- pressed using a vintage Heidelberg press, set in modern type from Dinamo, printed on small batch mould-made paper from Italy. Leather sourced from a historic French tannery and each is bound by hand in the UK and finished with individually hand-painted covers—every copy effectively one of one.
Anyone who loves a book will love these books. I DO love a good book.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Senator Bernie Sanders turned up on the picket line outside Mount Sinai West, backing NYSNA nurses now in Week Two of striking—for safe staffing, basic protection from workplace violence, and healthcare benefits that shouldn’t even be up for debate.
Back in 2020, when J.Crew asked for a menswear positioning, I skipped the slide deck altogether. With @soverrysoft , we built a world of references, objects, attitudes, emotion and sound, because brands aren’t PowerPoints.
