FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: 💡Krys Lemonias
Krys is one of our amazing professors and an area coordinator for Westby. Her work as well as several students' is currently on display at Stockton University's Noyes Museum of Art as part of the NJ Monuments to Migration and Labor Exhibition and Emerging Visions Exhibition ✨
🌊 For NJMML, she created a tapestry and sculpture in response to the stories gathered from the community events. These pieces celebrate the history of Black migrants who seasonally shucked oysters in the Port Norris area. With an image reference from the Library of Congress, she constructed the tapestry using clothes collected from community events, scrap fabric, a bucket, oyster packaging, sail and shells from Bayshore Center at Bivalve. The sculpture uses a wheelbarrow often used to move the oysters, a sail and shells also from Bayshore Center at Bivalve that fills it.

🌻🌺 Emmy Award winning “Flower and Flame” Screening at Rowan University’s Edelman Planetarium
Featuring Live Introduction by Paul Stankard
Glassboro, NJ — Rowan University’s College of the Arts is pleased to present a special public screening of Flower and Flame at the Edelman Planetarium on May 28, 2026 at 6:00 PM. This event is part of the College’s Artist-in-Residence program, honoring acclaimed glass artist Paul J. Stankard, who will offer a live introduction prior to the film.
Directed by Daniel R. Collins, Flower and Flame (2024) is a 66-minute documentary that traces Stankard’s journey from a curious child exploring the natural beauty of New England to an internationally celebrated artist working in glass. The film offers an intimate look at his creative evolution, from his early training in scientific glass to his bold decision to pursue a life in the arts, capturing his deep connection to nature, spirituality, and craft.
Through vivid storytelling and striking visuals, Flower and Flame reveals how Stankard transforms molten glass into intricate, poetic representations of the natural world—encasing memory, wonder, and meaning within crystal. The film was awarded the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award for Documentary by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on the film’s themes through Stankard’s live remarks, offering personal insight into his life, work, and artistic philosophy.
This event is free and open to the public; however, reservations are required.

🎨🖌️ Faculty Highlight: Danielle Cartier
Meet one of our amazing painting and 2D modeling professors, Danielle. When she isn't teaching classes here at @rowanuniversity , Danielle is creating murals and paintings or doing work for her own independent art gallery, @dcgallerystudio .
You can see some of her work in the new contemporary art exhibition the Road To Everywhere now on display at the Perkins Center for the Arts where you can see mixed media paintings by Danielle as well as ceramic suitcases created by David Bogus.
The opening reception of the Road To Everywhere is on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 2-5pm!
