And here’s an excerpt Hadar pulled from my last email about making these pupps~~~
The teenage and adult puppet are made from coils of reed called rattan.
It comes from a vine, and that means that like all natural materials, it fluctuates between qualities. Each piece splits, bends, breaks, springs back, warps and changes differently than the other pieces. It needs to be heated in warm water, held until it changes shape, and sometimes the pressure is too much.
I hope you are all held while this American landslide tries to bend you or even break you. I can withstand some pretty horrible bends if I’m held.
A LOT of people are being broken and even killed and starved, so please keep springing back, somehow someway, even in a new shape.
And like so many natural materials, unless you glue the rattan down, if it gets wet, it spreads out again. It has memory, the changes aren’t reversible, but neither are they permanent.
Life is long, even for a dead reed.
or maybe
Life doesn’t stop when you are cut off from your roots, you can still move.
or maybe
you can change shape even after you stop growing.
