The Keeper of Fire and Sea..
Beneath the shoulder of the sleeping god,
where smoke still curls from ancient stone,
the water swallows light in curtains odd —
a cathedral built by fire alone.
We fall through layers only silence knows,
past the ash-grey altars of the deep,
where the volcano breathes and nothing grows
but the coral, bright as broken sleep.
The seabed holds the centuries like dust —
pale drifts of grey on old volcanic stone,
yet from this ruin, life insists, it must —
the anemone claims the cinder for her own.
And who are we to enter such a place,
to fin through prayers the ocean long has kept?
Where manta rays pass slow with holy grace,
like monks through halls where greater things have slept.
The shark moves through the blue without a sound —
no menace, only purpose, old and clean —
a reckoning that circles, comes around,
the high priest of the places unseen.
Above, the crater mutters to the sky,
remembers floods of fire, remembers land —
below, the clownfish tends his anemone,
indifferent to what gods do not understand.
This island has outlasted everything —
the ships that passed, the stars that rearranged,
the empires that rose and crumbled ring by ring —
the reef below, somehow, barely changed.
So I descend and offer what I have:
my breath in silver pearls released above,
my smallness, and my willingness to halve
my world — give half to stone, and half to love.
The fire made this mountain. The sea filled in the rest.
And in between, a silence holds its breath….

Some snippets from our trip yesterday to Barren island.
Besides being India’s only active Volcano this place is probably meant to be Mecca for divers.
The coral colors chance of oceanic doing drive by’s and the shear magnitude and scale of things here leaves me awestruck every single time.

Sometimes it’s not about the shot or the color or anything.
In this moment I could barely frame or think about technique but in this moment I felt truly alive to every heartbeat to every pore on my skin, I felt present. In awe of what life has to offer.. so so blessed!!!
