The history of the Gas Plant Neighborhood is a rich and important part of St. Pete’s past. This month, the City of St. Pete organized back-to-back screenings of #RazedFilm at Eckerd College to ensure all City employees had a chance to see the film and understand this meaningful local history. After each of our screenings, audiences hear from filmmakers, local historians, and former Gas Plant residents who were featured in the film—adding valuable insight and first-hand lived experience beyond what is shown on-screen.
We are so grateful to Ms. Gwendolyn Reese and Mr. Carlos Lovett, staples of the post-film panel discussions, for their continued presence at these screenings. They, along with historians like Mr. Charles Dew and other featured residents, contribute so much to these events and the overall conversation around development in our city.
Thank you to Mayor Welch, his team, and the wonderful hosts at Eckerd College for bringing this event to fruition—and to all our community members who have shown up to watch and support this film.
More screenings are in the works. Visit gasplantfilm.com/how-to-watch for the latest or to apply to host your own.

We are thrilled to receive our first ever Best of the Bay award from @cltampabay for our feature length documentary, RAZED.
Shown here is the film’s animated title sequence by Joseph Nuñez and some photos from the premiere weekend at @foundationforahealthystpete captured by @power2thepictures .
Our goal with Razed was to first and foremost share this important history and to honor and celebrate the residents of the Gas Plant neighborhood. The awards and recognition have been an unexpected bonus and we are truly thankful to everyone in the community who have shown support for this project.
Register for future screenings at gasplantfilm.com/how-to-watch
