⛓️💥 Join us to make hot pickles from produce that has been bin-dived as part of the Preservation Pavilion, curated by @_playte
🥒 In this workshop, we will dig through a sample of produce taken from a skip bin to consider what is usable for pickling, and make hot pickles using a “quick pickle” technique that Eric learnt from his Aunt, a matriarch of his Taiwanese family.
🫙 This process uses hot brine to infuse flavours, creating salty-sweet crisp pickles.
Hot pickle is an invitation to consider our relationship to the bin and its social construct. The workshop invites conversation around what is edible, unfolding through knowledge sharing and group decision making.

Taking the format of a house inspection, ‘Open for Inspection’ is a home exhibition curated by me that is open intermittently for fifteen minute viewings in my rental apartment, which is currently for sale.
Contextualised within rental housing that is subject to impromptu inspections by potential buyers, ‘Open for Inspection’ responds to the creep of gentrification and dire conditions for renters in a neo-capitalist housing market.
The exhibition is the second show in ‘Hot Compost Home Tour, a home-based touring exhibition with Seventh Gallery, curated by artists and gardeners in Naarm, led by @emilysimek
