Dear womxn, this is your night ✨
Join us for this special edition of Strands of Home – a gathering inspired by @poetryireland and created in celebration of Poetry Day Ireland.
We’re returning to The Chapel at Swords Castle, thanks to @librariesfingal where we’ll explore what home feels like in our bodies, our hair, our shared histories, and the places we return to for comfort when the world gets loud.
This is a womxn-only space, where care is given and received through the hands, stories, and voices of the womxn present.
The only requirement we have is that you come as you are, let your hair down as we explore what home is together.
Event is free to attend, but grab your tickets to secure your spot!

Didn’t we promise you a fun-filled month of May?😆
As with the many celebrations of Africa Day throughout the country this month, we looked no further for inspiration for Draft 6!
This time, we’re bringing the full Rough Draft experience to Blanchardstown Library as we celebrate the beauty of Africa as a continent rich in abundance, culture, creativity and most importantly—COMMUNITY!
The African story is one of poetry, music, art and dance. It is the story that birthed this community itself. And more than anything, it is a story of invitation and so, we are incredibly excited to have you join us for this special edition.
As always, Rough Draft is a space for communal reflections so we ask that you come share, come learn and just simply—come be with us.

Bloom has our hearts so full that we’re struggling to find a caption to capture how precious this moment felt.
A huge thank you to Kayla and the team @librariesfingal for helping us bring this vision to life.
And to @subhashinigoda.dance and @ayonetee we have to specially thank you for blessing us with your artistry which grounded the space in such a beautiful way.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who showed up and shared a piece of themselves with us. Many people demonstrated what courage truly is—sharing vulnerabilities, permitting ourselves to be seen, and allowing others to find themselves reflected in our stories.
This event was a witness to people blooming together, in their own time, and season 🌸❤️
Thank you for #Draft5 💐

A dose of positivity to start your week? ✨
Here’s a story of how it all started:
@anikebeloved tweeted: “What has poetry looked like for you this October?” - shortly after our Draft 1 @roughdraft.poetry@that_yorubagehl responded: “Poetry looked like community for me this month.”
And just like that, poetry demonstrated its power in connecting people and bridging more communities to each other. Like a domino effect, Anike’s question sparked the creation of our weekly Wednesday poetry spaces on X, where a new community was born. That same energy eventually led to a physical gathering of Draft One in Lagos too.
Writers are bridges, and the true mark of our artistry lies in what our words create.
We are so grateful to have Anike as our Co-host in Lagos. Quite literally, without you, Rough Draft Nigeria wouldn’t be what it is today. Thank you for your wisdom, time and dedication to this family.
You truly embody what we mean when we say “Love is a Mirror”
