As designers, @thebarbicancentre is a dream. The name in Latin refers to a “fortified outpost” and it couldn’t be more apt. From a mile away, the iconic and monumental towers with their elegantly curved exposed concrete balconies stand guard. A singular vision, built with the purpose of habitation, community and economy growing right in the heart of London. There are few examples so beautifully executed internationally. I gush, but it really was pleasure to experience for ourselves. The materiality. The light. The life. The serenity. It’s a fine example of the brutalist style - but wandering the estate is anything but brutal. A stunning exhibition of #albertogiacometti with Lynda Benglis (@bendingconceptionz ) hammered home how timeless both of these artists works are (some of Alberto’s works are over a century old) which is inspiring to say the least. We couldn’t help ourselves spending a few moments in fantasy land as we walked by the barbicans dedicated real estate office on the way to the tube. Just how much is the dream exactly? as this felt very much like a bit of us.

Deserved a singular post of its own. The 5000 year old megaliths of the Calanais Standing Stones. One of Scotlands best preserved Neolithic structures, and interestingly predates Englands more famous Stone Henge. Maybe it’s subconscious, and maybe it’s the brain freeze from the arctic winds, but the energy here is quite something to experience. Such an incredible place to be able to walk around and touch the stones still too.
