Last week, @roots.030 took the wheel for the third takeover of the season.
With a name derived from the fluid and fertile essence of the ‘80s and ‘90s scene, Roots prioritises the need to cultivate an inclusive space where diversity and expression coexist. The collective pays homage to an era where House, Acid, Synthpop, New Beat and EBM collided and reshaped the dancefloor.
Behind the decks, Roots’ very own @itsunclegeorge , @argento__89 and @mattie.utr unlocked their timeless treasure troves - from Uncle George’s selection of deep, atmospheric and infectious House, to Argento’s synth-ridden, stompy gems and Mattie’s analogue, groovy and deeply textured finds, inspired by Detroit, Chicago and New York.

Next wednesday (no April fools’ joke) we’re flying over to our friends down at @radioweesper for a takeover by our residents. Expect to hear some New Beat, EBM, Acid & Deep House from 7PM till 10PM. The entire takeover will be livestreamed on Radio Weesper’s website, check in with us there.

We are super excited with the amount of listeners and visitors we’ve had last saturday during our takeover at @birdcageradio , the support and love was massive🥰🫶🏼.

Today is the day🔈
Today at 17:00 marks the start of Roots’ first ever showcase, and these are the names that will do it for us. Come by the studio, or tune in on Twitch, we’re ready for ya❤️
Closing the night is the one and only Mocrosoft, AKA Moroccan Rave Unit, AKA The Analog God (we picked that one).
Mocrosoft is known for his gritty, groovy and hypnotic selections. Whether it’s CD’s, Vinyl or Digital, no format is safe for the ever digging Utrecht based DJ.
With a wide selection of Chicago House, Detroit Acid and the occasional New York Garage, we can expect Mocrosoft to take us for a trip through 80s USA through depths only he can discover.
Mocrosoft will take over (and close) the decks from 22:00-00:00. Expect deep, soulful sounds with warm rhythms and a hypnotic swing. Are you ready?
Rotterdam based Leon is a true master of the decks. With their wide collection of Boogie, Underground Disco and a handful of Soulful House, they know how to get the heads nodding and bodies flowing.
As one of the faces behind Rotterdam’s most joyful collective @aaantafell , they take fun seriously on the dancefloor.
Leon is a true jack of all trades in the creative field. As a member of @stu.rotterdam , they have their own creative space where they experiment with playful, energetic and bright graphic designs.
Leon will take over the decks from 8-10PM to bless our ears with Underground Disco & House, and a fresh mix of boogie. We are excited!
The Utrecht based Catalina has been exploring electronic music through vinyl for the past four years, building a record collection sourced throughout every corner of Europe. As part of Stranded FM, they focus on curated, groove-driven selections.
Catalina is no stranger behind the decks, having played at multiple venues including Teatro, Beton-T, Open Source Radio and many more.
Catalina will take over the decks from 6-8PM to bless our ears with some hypnotizing deep house, complimented by breaks, aimed at building a deeper and more immersive flow in their set.

For this special night we’re bringing together three exceptional DJs. What connects them? A deep love for their craft, a true dedication to their respective genres, and countless stories they’re ready to share, through the sound, energy and experience that Roots embodies.
From swooping disco grooves to slapping Chicago house, to the raw bleeps and bloops of Detroit acid and hypnotic rhythms that move both body and mind, we dedicate seven hours to the essence of where it all began.
This isn’t just another event, this is the sound of Roots.
