Announcing the JAM FOR JUSTICE! Saturday, April 25 from 4-8pm at the Interchange (1815 Cleburne St). This fundraiser and community event will feature a panel discussion of formerly incarcerated changemakers, a lineup of musical performers, and an open jam at the end! Along with food, zines, and merch. We will have opportunities for mutual aid, and we will be raising funds for Chance 2 Change, a second chance/re-entry nonprofit. Come enjoy the vibes and help us create a more just and equitable Houston! Panelist info: Aubrey Taylor: I’m from Houston, Texas, a hustler from Third Ward. I have been Resurrected by God to bring others out of darkness to the marvelous light. To let them know long as you have hope, hope will turn into faith and give you the keys to life, the opportunities and Blessings that you always Dreamed of. My assignment is to bring your mind from darkness to be reprogrammed to thinking righteous and of the light. Anthony Willis was raised by a single mom with his 4 brothers. His childhood was marked by trauma and instability. After serving multiple stints in jails and prisons, he dedicated his life to serving others and helping young and older men navigate the hurdles of life. He now works for the PDO as a bridge between Clients and their attorneys. Anthony also travels the country going to jails, schools and prisons. Sharing his story of redemption and planting seeds of hope in the lives of others. AK like OK is a trailblazing entrepreneur and dedicated 2nd Chance advocate whose lived experience has allowed her to support and assist justice involved individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities with second chances. She is the founder and executive director of Chance 2 Change, a pre apprenticeship and resource and referral hub for individuals from all walks of life in need of a second chance. ROOTS OF RESISTANCE🌱🔻 On March 21st, community members and comrades across the US came together to fundraise for Palestinian families at our open mic, where we aimed to draw the connections between fossil imperialism and Palestine Together, we raised a bit over $2k for 14 families!! We want to thank all who showed up and showed out for our families in Palestine, our comrades @root_cause_htx @theraicescollabproject @ignitionfront.houston and USCPR for organizing this beautiful event with us, and our performers who dedicated their time and talents to making this event happen. 😍😍😍 Thanks to Palestine Contingent @queersforpalestinehtx @theraicescollabproject @ignitionfront.houston @bohemeos @dial.808.lo We had such a fun night with our local musicians and poets after the community event held at Mason Park. We raised 2k during the #ConfrontingCeraweek .
