Exciting news that Playground’s next stop is Safflicks Pride Film Festival. Special that this means, as part of the festival, Playground will also be streaming on @lesflicks (!!!) throughout June during Pride month. @safflicks Playground was born from a desire to de-centre the male gaze on screen through a queer lens. To spotlight self definition instead of shame in response to experiencing the intersection between misogyny and homophobia. Driven to honour both Grace and Jas’s stories as young women responding to the same hostile environment, Safflicks Pride Film Festival and Lesflicks feel the perfect space to screen Playground for Pride 2026. The festival will run between 8-21st June. It will be launched in person at L FEST from 5–7 June and then moving online via Lesflicks from 8–21 June. /programs/safflicks-pride-film-festival-playlist-2026?category_id=283698 @lesflicks @intermediaUK @britishlgbtawards @lfestevents @universalmusicgroup #SafflicksPrideFest26 #Pride #PrideMonth #LGBTQ Photo of Tayla Halfacre by Cameron Watson Thanks always to our incredible team 🫀 and to @networkfhm @bfinetwork for their support. ❤️‍🔥

It’s been a year since Playground premiered at Manchester Film Festival. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of screening at festivals across the UK and internationally, including multiple BIFA, and BAFTA qualifiers. We were also nominated for some awards and won an award along the way. Playground even screened as part of a special Pride event at @loveaffairbasement ❤️‍🔥 Thank you to all of the festivals and their teams who have screened & hosted us this past year. @mcrfilmfestival @nnfilmfestival @britishshorts @brightonrocksfilms @neiff_official @womenxfest @lgbt_film_festival @outshinefilm @eastlondonlgbtqfilmfestival @flatpackfestival @stamfordint.filmfestival 💙 Huge thanks to @bfinetwork @networkfhm and our incredible team. We’re not done yet though, we’ve got more exciting news coming soon! 👀👀 🩶🫀

It was a huge honour that Playground received the award for Northants New Filmmaker at @nnfilmfestival on Sunday. We love NFF and the grassroots community and support it cultivates in our director’s hometown, Northampton, where Playground was also shot. Playground receiving its first award on International Women’s Day in N town felt so apt given what the film represents — young queer women from towns outside of cities, carving out self definition. Thank you Becky and the fantastic NFF team for another brilliant festival. 🫀 Thank you to @networkfhm @bfinetwork for your support and our entire team of talents 🩶

It’s coming home. Playground has been selected to screen at Northampton Film Festival 🩵 Playground & NFF have had a long history, from script development stages via BFI NETWORK X NFF Script Lab to providing mentoring opportunities with the incredible @ella_bee_g 💙 Opportunities NFF builds in towns like Northampton provide foundations for new filmmakers like our Writer/Director Tayla, where there is less visibility of arts careers than there is in cities. The film was shot on Abington Park in Northampton, where Tayla grew up. Grassroots, this will be a special one. Thank you so much @nnfilmfestival & Becky Carrier for your maverick support of local talent 🩶 🚂 ❤️‍🔥🫀 Playground will be screening at 5:45pm on Monday 2nd March at Northampton Filmhouse as part of Women in Film shorts. Thanks always to our amazing team and to @networkfhm for their support. 🤎 Starring 🔵 Amelia Clarkson 🟢 Ebony Aboagye 🔴 James Craven 🟡 Freddie Palmer Writer & Director - Tayla Halfacre Producer - Becky Rooney Director of Photography - Rosie Taylor Editor - Catriona Delbridge Composer - Kraków Loves Adana Production Design & Costume - Jenni Payne Sound Designer - Matt Katz Colourist - Nielsan Bohl 1st Assistant Director - Emmy Brown Colour Producer - Hannah George, Selected Works Script Supervisor - Mia Fairbrother Hair and Makeup Designer - Denise McInnis Intimacy Coordinator - Eleanor Hodson Casting Director - Fran Cattaneo 1st AC/Focus Puller - Ben Foat 2nd AC/Loader - Freya Baker-Duffin Gaffer - Elena Armellini Spark - Sam Saunders Sound Recordist - Luke Predeth Boom Operator - Ava Doyle DIT - Nick Henderson Runner - Sarah Watson Stills Photographer - Becky Ryan Catering - Elenness Events Security - St Elmo Camera kit supplied by VMI TV Lighting supplied by GLO Film Lighting Colour - Selected Works FOR BFI NETWORK Executive Producer Lauren Parker Head of BFI Network Alice Cabañas Project Manager Gill Biddle Special thanks to: VMI, GLO Film Lighting, Selected Works & Noisegate Studios
