[Xbox x Droga5, directed by
@Romain_Chassaing ]
💡This project impressed us for its meticulous craft and extraordinary level of detail. We asked Romain to share some notes with us and the community about how this work came to life, you can read them below.
📝Directors’ notes by Romain Chassaing:
The Xbox project with Droga5 was truly an obsession with detail. Together with David Fincher, I worked on the writing and the breakdown, and every set was conceived with David Bersanetti.
📐Almost entirely built in studio, every surface, every typeface, every texture was designed to enrich the world we wanted to create.
🎥 The cinematography, signed by Jeff Cronenweth — the director of photography behind Fight Club and The Social Network — gave the film a strong, elegant and unmistakably cinematic identity.
📣 Production was intense, driven by Reset in collaboration with B2Y, where we had to tackle an enormous number of sets and shots in a compressed timeframe.
🪄 Then came the colossal post-production effort at 1920: replacing every face, bringing the rats to life, and refining each strand of fur one by one.
💯It’s the kind of film where every discipline — writing, production design, cinematography, VFX — was pushed to its limits to reach the highest level of craft.
🥇The film has already been honored with Lions at Cannes and a Yellow Pencil at D&AD.
