“In between sessions, the ritual was sacred: run to the beach, let the ocean wash away the fatigue, and watch the sunset with friends. Those quiet moments are what give meaning to everything after an intense day of skating.” Words and photos by @_aartemisaa Read the full article at Rollfolk.com #Rollfolk #rollerskating

Ive gotten so much more confident in just being myself and not staying locked into my social anxiety. Turns out it’s way easier to talk to people if you stop trying to fit into a mold that doesn’t fit you.” Head to Rollfolk.com to read the full interview. #Rollfolk #rollerskating

“It’s easy to sleepwalk through life, following paths that have been laid out by other people, and there are people profiting from us doing so. That feels especially true in our era of social media, food-delivery apps, Zoom meetings, the online dating marketplace. It’s easy to be lonely and lazy, filling ourselves up with passive entertainment, and never quite getting around to creating something ourselves. The alternative — getting together with people, dreaming something up and turning it into reality — can be messy, tiring, friction-filled, overwhelming, frustrating, imperfect. But also energising, funny, singular, satisfying, memorable; connecting you to people, building confidence, humbling you, teaching you things, helping you grow. It’s actually living. I need to be reminded of that sometimes, and I hope that’s what these stories do.” Head to Rollfolk.com to read the full article by @_____j.h._____ and get to know more about the new @rollerskatediy Zine. Copamos la Calle. M8 Buenos Aires 🇦🇷 + 🛼 - 🎻 ENG “What surprised me the most is that something so spontaneous, with no sponsors, no competition, and barely any planning, managed to bring together so many women to skate on the same day. It makes me really happy to see them claiming space, showing up, and skating together. I hope this was the spark for more and more girls to take over the streets, lose their fear, and make the city their own terrain too.” Head to Rollfolk.com to check the full article. You’ve seen her work, read her articles, maybe even rolled through events she helped bring to life. As a judge, organizer, sponsor, @octopolly has been shaping scenes for years. But her own path on skates goes way back, grounded in derby and park sessions. It’s a special one for us to see her rolling and shredding this DIY park. “In the end, it’s the personal connections that stay. I don’t remember specific tricks as much as I remember who I met and where.” That says everything. Read the full interview on Rollfolk.com 📷 @jonasvietense #Rollfolk #Rollerskating #Dogdaysmagazine

@dogdays_magazine was created by Marta @octopolly , a roller skater, and @jonasvietense , a skateboarder. Two different setups. One shared love for wheels. What started as a printed magazine dedicated to roller skating, especially ramp and street, grew into an online platform. But DogDays was never just about selling mags. It played an active role in the scene, supporting and organizing events, connecting communities, documenting moments that might otherwise have disappeared. This is a long conversation about beginnings, growth, hard years, proud milestones, and the question many of us still quietly ask: Will there be another printed issue? Name + skate nickname and location: Jeff Scholl. @ogr_gnar OGR. Las Vegas, NV. USA.

 First year on quads: 1978

First park you called home: My backyard halfpipe.

Describe the skating scene back then: We had a great skate scene in Tucson back then but I was the only quad skater. We skated vert ramps, backyard pools and ditches. Everybody was cool with me being on quads.

Your original skate setup for ramps: I had Riedell boots with DIY wooden plates, tracker trucks and Crossbone wheels.

Who or what inspired you? I was inspired by a guy named Teddy who I saw quad skating on a halfpipe during a street fair in Tucson. I couldn’t believe what he was doing! Later I saw pictures of Fred Blood and Duke Rennie in the mags that got me going!

Biggest slam you still remember: I slammed hard just 3 years ago at Anthem skatepark here in Las Vegas. I still am not sure what happened. I just remember waking up in an ambulance and being in the emergency room. I ended up with a concussion and some scrapes on my arms. My helmet probably saved my life that day.

Many people transitioned to inlines in the 90’s. How was it for you?  I actually stopped skating in the early 90s so I never tried inlines.

What today’s skaters should understand about 80s style: In the 80s it was more about airs, spins and handplants. We only stalled to set up for another trick. We didn’t do the variety of stalls that skaters are doing now.

One thing that hasn’t changed at all: The Stoke!

Why you still lace up: The Stoke!! Thank you Jeff. #Rollfolk #rollerskatinglife
