@sooshimango wrote a book! 📕 They’re now authors ✍️ AND IT’S A REALLY BLOODY GOOD BOOK! It’s called: ‘EAT! Mamma Knows Best’. And it’s out now - just launched this week! You can grab it at @bigwaustralia @dymocksbooks or via @amazonaustralia and all bookstores. And I can wholeheartedly vouch: it’s a must-have book. And, not JUST a recipe book. The guys - @carlosalanitri @joesalanitri and @andrew_manfre - actually sat down with their mums and aunties, and extracted recipes all these beautiful, strong women had held in their minds, hearts, and on stained pages of handwritten notes. “A little bit of this, and a little bit of that” turned into accurate, fail-safe, foolproof recipes which were then tried and tested (don’t tell the mums that!), then aesthetically styled, beautifully photographed, and presented and bound in a book for the ages. The design is SO on point, you’ll be picking out all the clever elements and having a solid laugh at the accuracy! I was indeed fortunate to have been across the editing process of this glorious book, and when I say it was a truly emotional🥹and satisfying experience, I mean it. My parents are no longer here, and reading old school yet classic Sicilian recipes, and wider Italian favourites, I was right there with my mamma in the kitchen. The guys have truly captured the essence of what it means to be Italian🇮🇹 A heritage so rich, and a love for their families so obvious, the book is laden with photos of the guys as kids (with very funny captions and introductory text to each recipe, as well as some fun side-bars like ‘How to tell your ethnic mum you’re vegan’). Private pics and fun anecdotes, what a trip to see your family vault memories in a book. Having written a book in 2014 about my mamma and being her carer, and the whole dementia journey, the feeling of knowing my book is there for posterity and for my future family to enjoy is… indescribable. The next year, in 2015, at an event for my book, I met the #SooshiMango guys🤩 Only a few months into their journey then, they’ve remained humble, grateful for their fans’ support, and have worked hard to be where they are now. @sassysprinkless was @morningshowon7 and it was a special one… 🎀 @janellejas was on the cooking segment with her mother @aysheee_h for #mothersday - and it was as fun 🤩 as we imagined it to be! Janelle creates and cooks a LOT of recipes - but this one came straight from her mamma: the family recipe for baklava ♥️ Janelle showed off the techniques her mother taught her (using the same tin that was used on @mykitchenrules which lead her to WIN the series in 2022 when she cooked this dish!). All while they both wore their cute matchy aprons (Ayshe makes them, and they sell them too! See Janelle’s link in bio). The bond with these two is so beautiful and also hilarious 🤣 Bravo 👏 ladies!
