Blood Cell Chair by Rogan Gregory on view at Basic.Space LA, opening today.
“Blood cells coursing through our arteries have evolved over millions of years, shaped by chemistry and physics into the perfect form to carry oxygen and sustain life. This chair is an homage to that lifeblood,” says artist and designer Rogan Gregory.
Known for his deeply intuitive, nature-driven practice, Gregory draws from organic systems and geological time—translating the invisible forces of the natural world into sculptural form. The Blood Cell Chair embodies this approach: at once functional and symbolic, a meditation on structure, flow, and the quiet intelligence of the body.
On view March 27–29 at Basic.Space LA.
After a burnout on the New York scene, @rogangregory found freedom sculpting in Malibu’s untamed landscape.
The former fashion designer creates organic forms shaped by earth, stone, and natural materials. The resulting sculptures have a deep connection to the surrounding environment.

Rogan Gregory’s unmistakable aesthetic bridges the geological and the living, creating functional sculpture that feels both ancient and present at once.
Debuting at Basic.Space LA is Gregory’s Venusian High Chair with Bronze Patina (1 of 1) – among other new works.
Chair show @randcompanynyc and @evansnyderman the humble chair is a respite for your legs but an object that humans have used time en memoriam. That need for utility serendipitously might be one of the earliest reasons to create and ponder and object as more that that….a sculpture with use .. a functional object with sentience.
