10 years ago, I was broke. I knew I had something to build but I had no idea how to do it. Today, I’ve built the platform I wish I’d had back then.
To the people who’ve been part of it from the beginning
thank you. You made this real.
To the ones still building
keep going. You’re closer than you think.
Join me on the journey. I promise, I’m only just getting started.
I’ve pitched over 800 times in my life. But for some reason, pitching @simonsquibb was nerve-wracking.
I have seen the difference that even just one of the right connections can make to people building their businesses. I want to make that feeling more accessible. Super excited to start this journey with the support of simon and the @helpbnk team. Let’s go!
I was told in school that I’ll never be “hireable”.
I was diagnosed with ADHD not long after that.
I didn’t choose this path with a 9-5 ready to fall back on, I just picked it because it was the only option built for me 🧠
Find what’s right for you. That’s the best advice to hear if you’re building a business.
Doomscrolling is dangerous.
But instead of comparing, it’s about figuring out the tools and things YOU need to operate as the best version of yourself. We’re all different, there is no rulebook.
What works for you?
The path I assumed everyone was expected to follow: go to a good university, get a good job, retire.
The reality more and more people are choosing: MAYBE go to university if you decide the fees are worth it. learn as much as you can - whether you’re at uni or not. decide to build something. try and fail more times than you can count. find the thing that works. keep building. work more hours than you ever imagined. if you’re lucky, find a team to build with. maybe almost fail again (character building). for the most lucky, you get to the exit and sell a business. repeat. MAYBE retire.
I knew I was never the right fit for the first path. grateful to have followed the second.
Investors don’t want you to have all the answers. They want to know you understand what you don’t know yet - and how you’ll solve for it.
Been doing this for a while now, and that’s the pitch most founders miss.
