The Buzz in the creative Streets | The Magnificent Seven🎞 Synopsis: Born in the staunch Orlando Pirates supporters in the Soweto neighbourhood. In a patriarchal world, the magnificent seven were an influential lobby of women supporters Girly Mashego, Alice Phahlane, Elizabeth Moorosi (sister-in-law), Jacobeth Simelane, Lydia Mali & Margaret Setlogelo setting up Pirates support branches across township and provinces keeping the community intact. They played a decisive role in electing club leadership and shaping Pirates’ internal politics. In some instances, they even influenced which administrators and chairpersons rose to power, giving them a strong say in the direction and identity of the club. The Magnificent 7 ladies were the backbone of Orlando Pirates’ cultural growth. They were organisers, power brokers, cultural trendsetters, and guardians of tradition. Without them, Pirates may never have become the mythic club of style, politics, and identity that it is today.
