35 years ago today! Nirvana photographed by Chris Cuffaro in a back alley in Seattle.
Chris recalls, “This was a shot for Cream Magazine. It was taken right before everything broke for them, so this to me is the last of Nirvana before all hell broke loose. I had the idea to go outside and go to the alleyway. So I took them to the back alley and I shot them sitting on a pile of wood. I think alleys make great little settings especially with bands that are grungier.They want to look rock and roll and edgier.”

James recalls, “I was able to meet and work with Led Zeppelin many times during their career and this period was particularly exciting and fruitful. I can remember them doing a stretch at The Forum in Inglewood, California. I shot many concerts at the Forum, but shooting Led Zeppelin’s were like working in a room full of static electricity: hair constantly standing straight up. They sold out both nights at The Forum in about 3 1/2 hours. Keep in mind, this was before the Internet and smart phones!”
