I’m running the @capetownmarathon in support of the @amyfoundationsa !!!!
I have never had a desire to run a marathon because to be honest it scares the crap out of me. However, when the Amy Foundation asked me to do it I just couldn’t say no. I am in awe of the work that they do.
I have always believed that every young person deserves a fair shot at success. The Amy Foundation provides an exceptional foundation for our youth and offers the opportunities they truly need to succeed.
So, I am running because I want to be a part of that foundation and support a child who needs it the most.
My target of R9,000 is not just a number, it is the cost of sponsoring one learner (aged 6–18) in the After School Programme. For many children in our townships, the hours after school are the most dangerous. It is a time where they are most vulnerable to the “plagues” of gangsterism, crime, teen pregnancy, and illiteracy. I want to help change that narrative. Your donation will help pull a learner out of those risks and place them in a safe, nurturing environment where they receive: Academic Support (To help them excel in their studies and stay in school). Sport & Recreation (To keep them active and teach them teamwork). Arts & Culture (To give them a creative voice and a sense of belonging).
