Did you know? At the Amy Foundation, we don’t just run programmes, we actively create opportunities that shape brighter futures💡💚. Our Youth Skills Development Programme offers young people the chance to choose between Hospitality, Sewing & Design, Beauty & Wellness, or Technical Skills & Handyman training. After completing a three month course, learners receive a certificate and are placed into real working environments through our network of development partners. These include opportunities at places like Lagoon Beach Hotel, Twelve Apostles, TFG, H&M, and more with some learners even securing permanent employment. This is more than training, it is a pathway to real opportunity and long term change. #AmyFoundation #ChangingLives #FunFact #FunFactFriday #YouthSkillsDevelopment

✨ Trainees Thursday ✨ Meet Tiffany, our Academic Support Facilitator dedicated to creating safe, engaging spaces where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered 💚 She believes leadership is about responsibility and giving young people opportunities to grow with confidence. “One of the moments that reminded me why I do this work was when two of my learners came to show me their academic diplomas. Seeing their hard work and growth come to life meant everything.” Her advice to young people: “Stay curious, growth takes time.” #AmyFoundation #ChangingLives #TraineesThursday #Education

✨Trainees Tuesdays ✨ Meet Lauren Townsend “For me, training tomorrow’s leaders means shaping people who are hardworking, kind, and willing to grow.” Lauren believes that learning should never feel intimidating that’s why she creates a space where learners can laugh, speak freely, and feel safe enough to be themselves. She encourages her learners to do the inner work too: to listen with intention, treat others with kindness, and stay open to learning at every stage of life. She mentions that sometimes, the smallest skills like truly listening or simply being kind are what make the biggest difference. 🌱 #AmyFoundation #ChangingLives #TraineesTuesdays #Kindness

What does gratitude and growth mean to you, and how have they shaped your journey so far? Anita shares that gratitude and growth are deeply connected to her upbringing and the experiences that have shaped her into who she is today. Her family has played a major role in her journey, constantly motivating her to believe in herself and not give up. Although she comes from a background where higher education was not common, this became the very thing that inspired her to push for a better future and pursue her own career goals. She expresses deep gratitude for her family’s unwavering support, recognising that every step of her journey has been influenced by their encouragement and love✨ A reminder that gratitude helps us recognise our support systems, while growth pushes us to become more than our circumstances. At the Amy Foundation, we celebrate young people who turn their gratitude into strength and their growth into purpose. ✨ Gratitude and growth shape who we are becoming💚. #AmyFoundation #ChangingLives #GrowthJourney

Happy Mother’s Day from the Amy Foundation 💚 This Mother’s Day, we are celebrating the incredible women who nurture, guide, and uplift the next generation, both in our homes and across our communities. In this special video, some of our staff and learners share what motherhood means to them. Their words are a reminder that motherhood isn’t defined by biology alone. It lives in every woman who shows up with love, patience, and belief in a child’s potential. To the mothers in our community, thank you for helping shape the leaders, dreamers, and changemakers of tomorrow. Your strength and care ripple far beyond your own homes. At the Amy Foundation, our mission is to equip and empower youth from vulnerable communities through education, life skills, and cultural development. None of this would be possible without the mothers and mother figures who walk this journey with us every day💫. Today, we honour you. Today, we celebrate you💚. #MothersDay #AmyFoundation #ChangingLives

This week, we’re shining our spotlight on Shanaaz Francis, Personal Assistant to the Managing Director and a valued member of the Amy Foundation team. Freedom isn’t always about where you start, sometimes it’s about how you grow into the opportunity in front of you. Shanaaz discovered the Foundation in 2019 through her sister, who was the office manager at the time. She was brought in for a temporary role as a receptionist and switchboard operator. In 2020, she transitioned into a Personal Assistant role while still supporting reception duties, and a few months later, she was permanently appointed. What she enjoyed most in the beginning was the warm, supportive working environment. During COVID-19, she also found it especially meaningful to see learners during After School Programme visits and witness their joy when receiving meals. In her current role as PA to the Managing Director, Kevin Chaplin, she enjoys engaging with donors and giving tours of the Foundation. She finds it inspiring when donors see the impact of the work firsthand, especially how facilitators and coordinators support learners into becoming future leaders. One of her proudest moments was hosting overseas visitors at the Siyazingisa After School Programme in Gugulethu, where the interaction with learners left a lasting impression. Her days are busy and fast paced, often filled with back to back meetings, but she describes them as productive and fulfilling. She enjoys that every day at the Foundation is different and rewarding. She is currently looking forward to the upcoming Gratitude event, where they will spend time with donors. In five years, she hopes to still be working at the Amy Foundation. Her advice: “Take time to understand the heart of the organisation and the impact it has on the learners we serve.” Because true freedom is found in purpose and in the impact, you help create💚. #AmyFoundation #SpotlightSunday #FreedomToGrow #FreedomInPurpose
