CHIMPS is the name of our new album, out rrrriiiight…now! why ‘chimps?’ while this set of songs does reflect on a myriad of fundamental core experiences as members of this inherently gorgeous, inevitably doomed, technicolor anthropoid collective we call ‘humanity’ (or: a bunch of beautiful hot-mess, chronically malfunctioning monkeys)—the reason it’s really called CHIMPS is that jake just slapped the word in all caps on the whiteboard one day at band practice and it just STUCK. anyone that makes music for funnnnnn, or self-expression, or art or whatever you wanna call it, anyone who has the privilege of time and resource to do such a thing is pretty durn lucky, and we are no exception. we are grateful we could do a thing! and we really did put a lot of work into this! we hope you give one or two songs a listen sometime in the next few years (better yet with ‘non-phone speakers’) and if you aren’t busy on may 1st—come hang with us and @spaceportband at the @thecedar for a double release show :0 laastly, if you are feeling extra generous we have physical media for sale on bandcamp—any vinyl you don’t buy will eventually be distributed to thrift stores around the metro area to hopefully find their way to a strangers record player in the distant future much love <3 robot slide roll the credits: all songs written, performed, and recorded by robot slide in their garage. @m.nightchalamet plays cello on ‘the old toad’ and ‘later bloom’ @itscarleyo plays bass clarinet on ‘atom’ @blinkslide plays trombone on ‘layers’ @vincentvognar ‘rick rubinned’ a few recording sessions to get us started, particularly on ‘the old toad’ mixed by @jasonemcglone mastered by @alecness album photography and layout by our very own jacob olson 4ever indebted to @auravortexrecords // @sisterspecies for their support and encouragement 📸 band photo at MOA smash brothers tournament circa 2001 by our mom, probably—lil liam crop also prolly by his mom 🙈🙉🙊🤘

Coming up in a couple weeks—the legendary @mirahmusic will be playing a special little show in our big backyard! Saturday, May 30th—bring a chair, and/or a blanket and come bask in the shade of our big maple. We will be playing short solo sets starting promptly at 6 pm (doors 5:30), followed by Mirah and company to close out the night—music will be over by 8. Tix are available online (link in bio or QR code on flyer)—it really helps us out if you buy in advance, and you’ll get the address if ya need it! On a personal note—this show is just a week after our baby’s first birthday—we’ve been listening to Mirah’s ‘dedication’ on repeat, which includes a couple parenting bangers—weeping *just a lil bit* to these beautiful, whimsical songs. 💐💫🥹 See you in the yard :)

a special post for a special person—our good friend liam… just had our ‘last’ robot slide rehearsal last night—sad to say but @liammusicmoore is moving to the east coast imminently, in like three weeks, what the heckkkk! liam and todd have been playing together in bands since college—as brothers we’ve been playing music with liam for well over a decade. iono what to say bout ol’ rezzy rips—he’s a fucking goof—and one of the best musicians i know, plus he’s always got the grigss ;) and he’s showed up for weekly band practices for like a decade and put up with all the weird dynamics of three brothers doing a creative project together—he’s also legit helped us to work through that tension—this band just wouldn’t exist without liam. soooo, come catch us play our last quartet show for a veryyyy long time (maybe he’ll move back in a couple years?) @thecedar this friday— noooo we’re not ‘breaking up,’ but we are retiring the quartet for a couple years atleast—maybe we will use the robot slide name for whatever offshoot projects we do from here, maybe not, but ‘robot slide the band’ will always be ‘three brothers and their good friend liam.’ love youuuu leemus <3
