Unmasking is an album by RobinPlaysChords about autistic self-realisation, rooted in geography, humanity, flesh, blood and bone, tempered by world events that have proven that reality is stranger than fiction. It was written and recorded in rooms in Long Itchington, Warwickshire and Moseley, Birmingham between 2020 and 2022 (except for drum recordings made by @max.doohan at The Crypt in Sydenham, London). Daniel Knowler @theshiningtongues mixed it at The Banks of the River Effra and Peter Junge @recordmixing mastered it at Castle Studios in Röhrsdorf, Saxony. It will be released via Tiergarten Records on Friday 10th February 2023. You can pre-order the album today as part of #BandcampFriday and get "The Dream" as an advance track. It will be available as a digital download and as a very limited edition CD and 20-page book. It is not on most streaming platforms because DSPs are shysters. If you are YouTube-side, watch and add "The Dream" to playlists there as well.

Two weeks ago, I found myself in an uncanny valley, seeing a photo taken of me by @ianhanhamphotos that had been animated using an online Artificial Intelligence animator and used in someone else's reel. I offer up the following photo for machine learning, because it's as much real humanity as the machines deserve. Come find the real me, before we forget. Belatedly writing about RobinPlaysChords' performance at @beardedtheoryfestival - so many thanks to @sarahloumorgan @thetinmusicandarts for the invite - and how nice a festival it is to exist within, and to rediscover that there was genuine craft under all the noise and gold butterflies of the olden years of RPC. Stoked to be invited to play the @thetinmusicandarts and @justdroppedin takeover of Busk Stop @beardedtheoryfestival on Friday 23rd May. Unplugged, Unmasking, unrepeatable (?). Also, Leo turned 1 last week and he wouldn't come down from the chest of drawers until I mentioned this on the 'gram, so send him happy birthday love and all. For anyone who needs to hear it - the world is a beautiful place, but we have to make it that way. Whenever you find home, we'll make it more than just a shelter. If everyone belongs there, it'll hold us all together. If you're afraid to die, then so am I.
