If you’ve been following us for a while, you may remember that last year Dorset printmaker @robindmackenzie created an exclusive handprinted Gold Hill Christmas card just for us. Well, we thought it was too special to have only one outing, so we’ve persuaded Robin to dust off the original wood engraving block once more and run us another batch on his 1854 Albion hand press. What’s more, we also have a fresh supply of Robin’s other Christmas cards, each of them also handprinted from the original wood engraving and initialled by hand. We have given quite a few to family and friends over the years, framing our very favourite ones for year-round admiration. Now there’s an idea for you. Want to copy? Find yours in store or online now.

Inside the Workshops 👀 Today we’re looking at a course with printmaker Robin Mackenzie @robindmackenzie on experimental reduction linocut ⭐ Over five days, they are guided through the process of creating their own multi layered reduction prints, from cutting and texturing techniques to colour layering and overlays. Students print both by hand and on an Albion press, developing their skills from small two layer designs to larger, more intricate blocks! . . . #WestDeanCollege #WestDeanWorkshops #Linocut #Printmaking #CreativeCourses #ArtWorkshops #LearnPrintmaking #ShortCourse #ExperimentalArt #AlbionPress

I am delighted to have had my print “The Last Rocks” selected for this year’s Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries. The show will run from the 17th until the 27th of September. “The Last Rocks” depicts the last run of rocks at the top of the British Isles off the north coast of Shetland. The lighthouse on Muckle Flugga was built in 1854 by the Stevenson brothers. The rocks are a nesting ground for gannets and are a breathtaking sight. @royalsocietymarine #shetland #linocut #exhibition #mallgalleries @mallgalleries #muckleflugga #unst #outstack #hermaness

I am delighted to have had my print “Thunder and Rain” shortlisted for the @woolwichcontemporaryprintfair Fingers crossed it gets through the final selection at the end of the month! This print depicts The Drongs on the west coast of Shetland. The towering granite stacks rear up from the centre of the bay near the ancient volcanic area of Eshaness. #linocut #woolwichcontemporaryprintfair #printmaker #printmaking #print #woodengraving #shetland #thedrongs #eshaness
