As Above, So Below Watercolor and 22k gold on paper in seven-part custom maple frame 53” x 168” Swipe for details On view in: Migrations | Brattleboro Museum March 21st- July 5th “Crofut-Brittingham creates scenes that feel both fantastical and idyllic, richly realized and specific yet tantalizingly out of reach. Depicting a world reclaimed by nature, the works serve as a warning about our impact on our natural environment but also a hopeful vision in which we are caring stewards of our precious planet.” – Sarah Freeman, curator Photos by Paul Litherland of Studio Lux @brattmuseum @tian_contemporain

Two series. Two visual languages. One ongoing conversation. In the exhibition MIGRATIONS, artist Robin Crofut-Brittingham’s large-scale watercolor illustrations of birds from her 2025 publication, “The Illuminated Book of Birds,” are on view alongside her fine art landscapes that envision worlds shaped by ecological change. Crofut-Brittingham will discuss the exhibition at an Art Talk at BMAC on Saturday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. Registration is recommended and walk-ins are welcome subject to availability. “The Illuminated Book of Birds” will be available for purchase at the event, and is available to purchase anytime in the museum gift shop. 🔗 in bio MIGRATIONS is on view through July 5, 2026. @robincbstudio #illuminatedbookofbirds #birds #watercolor #illustration #brattmuseum brattmuseum

I’m excited to share the cover for my new book The Illuminated Book of Blooms which will be published on October 20th by @timberpress . It is now available for preorder either from your local bookstore or at the link in my bio. I’d also add that people often kindly ask how best to support my books. Preordering is by far the most impactful way to do so. Preorder numbers influence everything from placement to print runs, and make the biggest difference overall. Whether it’s from a local store or online it makes a huge impact. Thank you all for your support! Some bookstores I love that you can preorder from: @librairiedrawnandquarterly @oblongbooks @lakevillebooks @bearpondbooks @destiil_books Author photos by @saraswallach @hachettecanada @hachetteus @workmanpub @teamredsofa

The Forest for the Trees Watercolor on Paper in custom maple frame 40” x 80” This painting is currently on view in my exhibition at the Brattleboro Museum through July 5th alongside several wonderful concurrent exhibitions. From curator Sarah Freeman: In her work as an illustrator, Robin Crofut-Brittingham uses watercolor to render the natural world in exquisite detail. This exhibit features selections from her recent book, The Illuminated Book of Birds, revealing an artist who encourages us to pay close attention to nature’s beauty and complexity while also reflecting on the challenges posed by human impact. In parallel with her illustration practice, Crofut-Brittingham creates large works on paper that imagine new worlds rich with life and color. The paintings in Migrations are full of movement and wonder, a result of the same keen observation that she uses to such great effect in her illustrations. Crofut-Brittingham creates scenes that feel both fantastical and idyllic, richly realized and specific yet tantalizingly out of reach. Depicting a world reclaimed by nature, the works serve as a warning about our impact on our natural environment but also a hopeful vision in which we are caring stewards of our precious planet. In honor of earth day here are a few of my favourite pages from my book, The Illuminated Book of Birds. Walking this morning and listening to the birds reminded me just how much they influence my day to day and how important they are to our world. You can see the originals of these in my ongoing show at the Brattleboro Museum and my book is available to order/purchase wherever books are sold. It was so special to spend this past weekend in Brattleboro celebrating the opening of new exhibitions at the @brattmuseum , including my first solo museum exhibition Migrations. I had the chance to reconnect with old friends and teachers from @theputneyschool and to meet so many wonderful new people. I’m deeply grateful to @sarahsfreeman for curating this exhibition, and to the incredible team at the museum for creating such a unique and inspiring space. Thank you as well to the team at @tian_contemporain for facilitating the transport of my large new paintings from Montreal, and to Tianmo and her family for making the trip down to support me and for championing my work at her gallery. To my family and friends in the Berkshires, thank you for helping store and transport my bird paintings. Thanks to Christie Herbert and her family for arranging a beautiful and delicious dinner at the museum with trustees and friends. Endless thanks to my husband, Jake, for his support, love, and framing skills—I truly couldn’t do any of this without him. And lastly thanks to my son Felix who spent the evening of the opening dancing, eating snacks and showing anyone he talked to his new dragon shirt. Honored to show alongside incredible artists @judegriebel @hyde_deirdre @michaelaharlow @bronson.smillie @tapeart and others.

If you’re in the area, please save the date for the opening of my new exhibition, Migrations, at the Brattleboro Museum on March 21 at 5 PM. I’m truly honored to be presenting this new body of work at such a wonderful institution. It has been a pleasure organizing this exhibition with the support of @sarahsfreeman and the incredible team at the @brattmuseum . The show brings together new large-scale works on paper alongside illustrations from my recent book with @timberpress , highlighting the connection between these two parts of my art practice. 🦜🦅🦢🦤🦩🐦‍⬛🦚🪿🪺 From the museum: In her work as an illustrator, Robin Crofut-Brittingham uses watercolor to render the natural world in exquisite detail. That’s a wrap on my exhibition at @berkshirebotanicalgarden . When I finished the paintings for my book I knew that the galleries at the botanical gardens were the perfect place to share them and I am so grateful and amazed it all came together just as I had always hoped. It was such an immense pleasure to have my work there this past month and to reconnect with so many wonderful old friends and meet so many new bird and art lovers who came to see the show. Deep thanks to the team at the BBG and all the incredible volunteers and docents who make it such a special and inviting place. Lots of new projects on the horizon but wrapping this one up with nothing but joy.
