Earlier this month, the entire community gathered for Spring Work Day. We fanned out across campus and cleaned, painted, cleared, swept, organized, hauled, mucked, and planted. Caring for our campus and buildings is baked into Putney's traditions, and part of what helps us all feel a love for, and a shared ownership of, this special place. 💚
The greatest classroom is nature itself. 🐷🐐🐰🐓
Thank you to @theputneyschool and @retreatfarm for the beautiful and educational day at the farm, learning about cows and snuggling goats. We are so lucky to have such amazing resources for families, right here in Brattleboro!
Our 2nd graders had the BEST day exploring at the Retreat Farm and even got to make butter and have a cheese tasting! 🧀🐂

Developing a work ethic and an appreciation for the many skills learned through manual labor is a part of the experience here. Students care for the school by participating in work jobs, seasonal work days, and through dedication in the classroom, art studios, and on teams. We also have fun while doing it!
Recently, we spoke to young alumni who reflected on how Putney helped them develop a strong work ethic in many aspects of their life.
