ektor garcia: loose ends, the first solo museum exhibition in California by Mexico City–based artist ektor garcia marks a homecoming for garcia, who was born in California and spent his formative years in the Bay Area.
garcia’s work draws on handcraft traditions and a DIY punk sensibility to create constantly evolving objects made of copper wires, cast metals, glass, and fiber. His exhibition at SJMA repurposes new and existing sculptures into a single, original installation that is both intricate and psychologically charged.
