Retro Girl
A personal animation project that started as a character animation exercise and became a 2D/3D mashup exploring every animation tool I could get my hands on. The concept and original script is by

I would have loved to execute all of her ideas, but as a single animator, this was all I had time to complete.
I love Cinema, 2D animation and the giant steps that the animation industry has taken in the past few years merging traditional animation with 3D.
I definitely stretched the limits of my knowledge (and melted my brain) in my own attempt to merge the two. Matching the 3d character model to the 2D design was a definite challenge and the rigging process for both the 2d and 3d characters was extremely time consuming. I learned a ton in creating this piece.
I also had a great time sculpting the skull, cat, and 3d character hair in
@shapelabvr . It’s amazing using VR to sculpt rather than using Zbrush with a tablet. An extremely intuitive way to work.
Technical Details: Created with After Effects, Illustrator, Blender, Limber, Rubberhose, Callipeg, Shapelab VR. 3d Animation created with #blender sculpting done in #shapelabvr texturing in #substancepainter #cellanimation for the smoke created with
