Terrace, Hazelton, Dawson Creek & Squamish are all asking for an independent cumulative health impact assessment on LNG.
The Minister of Energy says that existing environmental assessments & regulations are sufficient, but asthma rates are up in Kitimat, and LNG Canada is flaring far more than its permits allow — it has the worst flaring emissions of any LNG plant in the world.
What do you think of the Minister’s answer?

BC has one of the highest levels of wealth inequality in Canada.
A new tax bracket for the ultra-rich would pay for the services we deserve, and make B.C. a fairer place for all.
To see the Finance Minister’s answer, where she boasts that B.C. has the lowest tax rate in Canada for those earning $149,000 🤦♀️visit YouTube.com/@bcgreencaucus .

The BC Legislature didn't adjourn until 4 a.m. on May. 7.
BC Green MLAs Jeremy Valeriote and Rob Botterell were trying to stop the BC NDP’s sweeping erosion of our Freedom of Information Act.
Bill 9 passed 2nd reading last night, but the fight isn’t over.

Thank you to the family members, friends and advocates who spoke at today’s ceremony marking the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people.
Thanks also to MLA Bird for organizing today’s event.

A big shoutout to our amazing constituent Tannis Wightman for her incredible generosity 🌞📚
She’s donating a copy of Here Comes the Sun to every MLA, helping bring hope and climate action front and centre 💛🌍

I’ve been meeting with parents affected by the B.C. NDP’s changes to autism funding (not just at today’s rally on the legislature lawn). I’ll continue to advocate for their needs inside the legislature, working towards solutions that benefit all.

I rose in the house to honour the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job.
The National Day of Mourning is a reminder that we can do better. We urge this government to implement the proposed crane licensing and permitting requirements before the end of this year. This government must fully and fairly implement the Workers Compensation Act to fight claim suppression. While this government has taken some steps to safely contain and control hazardous asbestos, more needs to be done. This government must deliver on its promise to recognize workplace health and safety as a fundamental right.
Every worker deserves to feel protected during their shift, and come home safe.

The BC Greens have tabled a motion to censure the MLA for Kelowna - Lake Country - Coldstream. We’re defending the reputation of BC’s Legislative Assembly & maintaining public trust in our governing institutions.
1.5 years of continued disreputable conduct by MLA Tara Armstrong that is inappropriate & unbecoming of a Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.
If other members of the house do nothing, the public may assume that the Legislative Assembly condones her racist and discriminatory statements, bigotry towards Indigenous peoples and the transgender community, use of NAZI slogans, and her revictimization of survivors of Residential Schools.
We must defend the integrity and trust of BC’s Legislative Assembly.

The Mental Health Act is archaic & embarrassingly out of step with modern understandings of mental health.
It must be reviewed and reformed.
The Premier promised to do it, but a year later, not even the review’s framework is public.

April 28 is the National Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured on the job, and today I joined union members and politicians on the front steps of BC’s legislature to honour workers we’ve lost, and fight for a safer BC.
The National Day of Mourning is a reminder that we can do better. We urge this government to implement their proposed crane licensing and permitting requirements, fully and fairly implement the Workers Compensation Act to fight claim suppression, safely contain and control hazardous asbestos and cancer-causing chemicals, and deliver on their promise to recognize workplace health and safety as a fundamental right.

MLA Botterell led the team that wrote BC’s original Freedom of Information Act in the 1990s (when he worked as a public servant).
He says the B.C. NDP’s Bill 9 (2026) is the final nail in the coffin of the original legislation.
