An ice hole. In the middle of a city. Used as a pitch meeting.
Only in Finland.
@rob.bell is in Oulu watching Mimosa make her startup pitch from the Baltic Sea, because why use a boardroom when you can use a freezing inlet instead?
Finland has been ranked the happiest country on earth year after year. After watching this, we think we’re starting to understand why.
The Travel Show ‘Finland: How to be Happy’ kicks off a brand new series this weekend on @bbcnews worldwide and anytime on @bbciplayer in the UK. Link in bio.
Those queues aren’t going to move themselves, Rob.
To mark the 60th season of North America’s largest ski resort, @rob.bell – who used to work as a ‘liftie’ at Whistler - is coming out of retirement.
He’s got his badge and his uniform back, and he’s absolutely determined to get those people up the mountain. Hard to do when you’re also presenting The Travel Show...
The Travel Show: Canada, From Peak to Piste is out now on @bbcnews worldwide and @bbciplayer in the UK. Link in bio.

This is the oldest light in the US and got heavily caught up in the American War of Independence.
.
Managed now by the US Coast Guard. They couldn't have been more helpful.

Starting the day with a run with a friend never ceases to motivate, relax and energise simultaneously.

This episode is about the human story behind the vast amount of concrete poured to build the Nazi defences known as the Atlantic Wall.
.
This road through the sand dunes of northern France is called the Chemin des Juifs, or the Jew's Road and was built by slave labour to provide access to build defensive positions along the coast.

Filming in Whistler, Canada 🇨🇦 recently, I had a very meaningful week visiting somewhere I used to live and work.
.
But I never got to go out with these guys! Some of the unsung heroes of the mountain.
.
Thank you so much for your time and enthusiasm. You absolutely made my day!
.
The capability of these machines is so much more far reaching than I can show in this post, but I hope you get the idea. 🙏🙏 @whistlerblackcomb@pistenbullyworld
The warm spring weather today got me thinking about filming this a wee while back.
.
There's so much goes into producing a shoot like this that TV viewers never get to see. And this is just on the shoot itself. Plenty more team members behind the scenes; planning, organising, and making it all happen.
.
This episode was on @channel5_tv a couple of weeks ago. If you missed it, you can still catch up online.
I've always struggled with the paradox of the technical brilliance and ambition of Nazi engineering combined with the moral abomination of how much of it was constructed and its intended use.
.
Often described as a controversial historian and academic, Jeffrey Herf coined the phrase, Reactionary Modernism, for this exact phenomenon.

We hadn't planned on filming this scene but the opportunity presented itself as we were getting shots along the Pas-de-Calais coastline and we weren't going to pass up a bit of exploration.
.
I'm so glad we followed our noses on this one.

Here's a little story from in-between filming episodes of Building The Impossible - going out on Friday evenings on Channel 5 at the moment.
.
It wasn't at all what I'd planned or hoped for, but I wouldn't change the experience at all. In the end I mustered up the courage to talk to people in VERY pigeon Spanish.
.
And from what I learnt, I couldn't be angry about the protest. The cost of living was crippling families and businesses.
