A Roastersaurus first: a double release.
I chose these two coffees blind in Santuario before I knew they were connected. Same producer, same farm, same remonta washed process. The difference was time.
One cup moved bright, juicy, and Raptor-like. The other had more depth, more cola sweetness, and a very T-Rex kind of pull.
So they had to hatch together.
Artwork by @kitsukaizen , with original creature design by @killbeef . The palette came straight from the farm: the pulping machine, the colours around Avelino’s process, and the world these coffees came from.
Look closely at the mirrors. Each creature has found the other staring back.

Before I met Avelino, I met the coffees first.
This carousel is from Santuario and Asocafé Tatamá, where two cups on a blind table kept pulling me back before I knew why.
I didn’t know they were connected yet.
I only knew I wanted both. 🦖🦕

By this point, I had already tasted and chosen two coffees blind, without knowing they came from the same producer.
Then Mat North brought me to meet Avelino Mena at his farm, and suddenly those cups had a person, a place, and a process behind them. 🦕
We were drinking Avelino’s coffee, brewed by his wife, right where it was grown and processed.

The event itself was also great, with a super interesting talk in Liberia and a chance to taste some pretty great prospects for the future of coffee! Thank you to @omwanicoffee for hosting and @equatoriacoffee for the coffees. Looking forward to see what comes of this project!
