It was so fun this weekend to do a benefit for East High School, celebrating @highschoolmusical movies. It was surreal to return to the place where most of the movies were filmed.
Walking back in the cafeteria and gym at East High School brought back so many amazing memories and realization of what we all were part of. So grateful to @kaycstroh@baylithom@ro.does.stuff for joining me to meet and teach so many new Wildcats!!!!!! @kennyortegablog@chuckyklapow we wished you were with us! Along with all the OG WILDCATS!!!! Thanks to @kennyortegablog for so graciously directing us all and brilliantly painting each scene to make them what they became. Iām so grateful to you!!!! To @chuckyklapow for being partners in crime through all 3 movies. I loved creating with you and Kenny. So grateful for all the talent we were blessed to work with. We thank East High for being such a huge part of the journeyā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Standing in the real East High, 20 years later, with one of the original High School Musical choreographers, the incredible Bonnie Story, alongside my case mates Bayli and Roeā¦ dancing to Weāre All In This Together in the place where it all beganāitās hard to put into words what this felt like.
Looking out and seeing generations of fansāparents, kids, and even little ones discovering it for the first timeāall learning the same moves Bonnie taught back thenā¦ it was like time folded in on itself. The energy, the joy, the connectionāitās still there. It never left.
When East High reached out for their fundraiser and Bonnie called, there was no question. Wildcats show up. Always ā¤ļø
This experience brought back so muchāgratitude for where it all started, for the people who made it so special, and for the fans who have kept this story alive across generations. To feel that love, in that place, all over againā¦ unforgettable.
