The AFSLI Conference highlighted that sign language interpreting is a vital profession built on high standards and ethics. It plays a key role in ensuring access, inclusion, and equal communication

" Our collective commitment to break communication barriers and ensure that Deaf communities across Africa are fully included in every aspect of society. Together, we are strengthening the profession of sign language interpretation and building a future where accessibility, dignity, and equal participation are a reality for all."
The AFSLI conference is a great opportunity to learn from each other, share ideas, and build strong partnerships between interpreters and Deaf organizations across Africa. It is also a good moment to highlight the importance of recognizing Rwanda Sign Language in national laws and policies. This will help improve sign language interpretation, make communication easier between Deaf and hearing people, and ensure the full inclusion of Deaf persons in society.
