#IDAHOBIT2026🏳️‍🌈📢 “At the heart of democracy” is the principle that every person must be able to access health, services, and support with dignity, free from stigma and exclusion. At HDI, we continue to strengthen safe spaces, community-led systems, and inclusive health services that respond to real needs on the ground. Safe spaces. Equal rights. No one left behind. #AdvancingHealthRights #HumanRights #Equality

On #IDAHOBIT2026, we reflect on the importance of building strong community systems, safe spaces, and inclusive health services where everyone can access care with dignity. This week, HDI Rwanda convened community-led organizations for a joint learning workshop to identify service gaps, strengthen organizational capacity, and co-create solutions for more inclusive, stigma-free service delivery. Discussions focused on persistent barriers including stigma and discrimination in healthcare settings, limited access to information, and the growing needs of organizations supporting communities affected by exclusion. HDI Rwanda’s Deputy Executive Director emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and informed dialogue in addressing evolving challenges in health, rights, and inclusion. The workshop also highlighted HDI’s inclusive health centres in Kicukiro, Nyamirambo, and Rubavu as trusted safe spaces where community members can access respectful care, support, and referrals. Participants called for expanded services, stronger outreach, and deeper collaboration to ensure no one is left behind. Together, we continue working toward a future where discrimination becomes history. #IDAHOBIT2026 #AdvancingHealthRights #HumanRights #Equality

he three-day VCAT training in @rusizidistrict has concluded with health care providers strengthening their understanding of Rwanda’s legal framework on safe abortion and post-abortion care, while reflecting on how values, stigma, and professional responsibility influence service delivery. Participants from health centers, private clinics, the district hospital, youth centers, and community health structures are consolidating practical approaches to improve referral pathways, confidentiality, and coordination across service points, with a focus on delivering respectful, non-judgmental, and stigma-free reproductive health services. #AdvancingHealthRights #VCAT #SRHR #PostAbortionCare

Today, as part of #KeplerSuccessWeek, we were delighted to engage students in meaningful, youth-friendly conversations on everyday health and well-being. Our sessions focused on understanding the human body, personal hygiene, menstrual health, and skincare for both men and women, helping young people strengthen confidence in caring for their bodies with accurate, practical knowledge. We also explored key aspects of sexual and reproductive health, including contraception and how to prevent unintended pregnancies. The discussions created a safe space for open learning, questions, and clarification—supporting students to make informed choices grounded in facts rather than myths or misinformation. The conversations further addressed consent, common myths around sexuality, and awareness on STIs, HIV, and cervical cancer. Overall, the engagement reinforced the importance of respect, boundaries, and protection, while promoting healthier and more informed relationships among young people. #AdvancingHealthRights #SRHR #YouthHealth #HealthEducation #KeplerSuccessWeek

Today, #Rwanda joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Nurses Day, observed every year on May 12, under the theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” Celebrations took place across different parts of the country, while the national event was held at the headquarters of the Rwanda Nurses & Midwives Union (RNMU) in Gasabo District, bringing together board members and staff of the union. The day was marked by joy, reflection, and celebration of the dedication and contribution of nurses and midwives in saving lives and strengthening healthcare services. Participants also shared a cake as a symbol of unity and appreciation for the progress made, while others across the country joined the celebrations virtually. #InternationalNursesDay #IND2026 #OurNursesOurFuture #NursesDay
