Today Rwanda Biomedical Centre hosted the Health Science & Innovation Platform (SIP) , bringing together researchers, clinicians, and policymakers to examine evidence and its implications for #Rwanda's mental health system in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Discussions explored the deep-rooted psychological trauma of the genocide, its long-term effects across generations, and evidence-based interventions to strengthen mental health responses.

Rwanda Biomedical Centre, in partnership with @africacdc , convened multisectoral stakeholders for the second session dedicated to developing #rwanda ’s National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS).
Speaking during the session, which focused on costing priority activities outlined in the #naphs framework, DG Prof. Muvunyi M. Claude reaffirmed the importance of a multisectoral and One Health approach.
He also emphasized the need to integrate emerging technologies such as AI, strategically prioritize interventions amid constrained resources, and sustain preparedness to ensure timely and coordinated responses to public health emergencies.
The session outcomes will inform strategic investments and strengthen coordinated efforts to advance Rwanda’s health security in the years ahead.
Today DG Prof. Muvunyi Mambo Claude met with officials from
Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to discuss strengthening Rwanda’s Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness (REPP) plan through partnership with CEPI and the 100 Days Mission.
Rwanda's response to the Marburg Virus Disease outbreak, completed in ~90 days, was highlighted as proof that rapid, coordinated epidemic response is operationally achievable.
Both parties agreed to deepen technical collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and training opportunities to accelerate preparedness across the region.
